Major League Baseball Team Rebrand
In my Identity Design class, I undertook a semester-long project to rebrand the Major League Baseball team based in Cleveland, formerly known as the Cleveland Indians. Recognizing the need for a comprehensive rebrand, I sought inspiration from Cleveland's cultural identity, particularly the iconic Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The aim was to craft a brand that resonated deeply with the city and instilled a sense of ownership among the fans. After careful consideration, I settled on the team name "Blackbirds," drawing inspiration from The Beatles' timeless song, "Blackbird." This approach aimed to infuse local identity and global musical influence into the team's image, fostering a connection between the fans and their city.
Social App Design
In my Interaction Design class, our assignment centered around the development and design of a social app, leading me to conceptualize "Teamup." This app is geared towards fostering social gatherings among friends with a shared interest in watching sporting events. Drawing inspiration from widely-used social platforms like Snapchat and Facebook, Teamup incorporates a map feature that enables users to locate their friends. The app offers a balance between privacy and social engagement, allowing users the option to stay discreet or notify friends about their current activity by activating their accounts. This concept aims to enhance the social experience of watching sports by seamlessly connecting friends and creating opportunities for shared moments.
Wikipedia Redesign
Also in my Interaction Design class, this task involved a website redesign, and I chose Wikipedia due to its perceived bland and outdated appearance. My objective was to infuse vibrancy and a modern aesthetic into the platform. For the logo redesign, I maintained the Earth theme but introduced colorful dots to symbolize the interconnectedness of people collaborating globally. The word mark underwent a transformation with the use of a more playful font to complement the modern look.
On the homepage, I introduced a novel approach to language selection. Users could change the language by interacting with different color circles, each displaying a friendly "hello" in the language they represent. This innovative method aimed to enhance user experience and add a touch of creativity to the browsing process.
Data Visualization: Values
For another one of my graphic design courses, we were taught the importance of values. While learning the importance of values we were asked to identify our own values. After a difficult process of choosing my 3 most important values, I was tasked with monitoring when my values were activated and repressed on any given day. After gathering that information I then created a visualization graphic that would clearly and effectively portray my data to my viewers.
